MORAL DIPLOMACY
President Wilson wanted the government to have a moral approach to foreign affairs. He also wanted to right all the Imperial policies he thought was wrong. He passed the Jones act that promised the Philippines independence when they established a stable government. He also gave Puerto Ricans full U.S. citizenship and limited self government. Wilson's presidency ended imperialism.
MEXICO
Huerta Assassinated the Mexican President and took over Mexico in 1913 to tested the Moral diplomacy of Wilson. Despite the moral diplomacy Wilson still sent American ships to blockade the Port at Vera Cruz. Americans went to shore and were arrested but soon released. Huerta was asked to apologize but he refused, so wilson ordered the U.S. navy to occupy Vera Cruz. This almost resulted in war until the ABC powers stepped in and mediated the dispute.
