KOREA

On August 10 1945, the day after the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki, Japans former colony Korea was divided at the 38th parallel. North of the line was communist led by Kim II Sung and the south was conservative nationals led by Symngman Rhee. In 1950 the North invaded the South, Truman took action and used the containment policy to help the South. In 1950  the Chinese sent troops to the North and defeated the U.S. Despite the defeat the U.S still stayed until 1953 when an Armistice was signed ending the fighting, But the North still remained communist.
