CUBA

Picture
At the Bay of Pigs Invasion the CIA secretly trained Cuban exiles with the goal of invading Cuba and overthrowing Castro. Castro's troops met and stopped the attack at the Bay of Pigs. This pushed Castro even more toward communism. There was also the Cuban Missile Crisis where photos were shown of the U.S.S.R. putting nuclear missiles in Cuba. JFK put a naval blockade and an embargo on Cuba till Khrushchev removed the missile. Kennedy also told Americans to stop thinking of the Russians as monsters and this was the beginnings of detente to relaxed tensions.
