CONTAINMENT

A foreign policy developed by George Kennan that claimed that the only way to stop Soviet aggression was to contain it.  It was the basis of U.S all foreign policy after WWII designed to stop the spread of communism . Policies such as the Marshall plan and the Truman doctrine.
